Dona Filipa Hotel is situated in the heart of the luxurious Vale do Lobo estate overlooking the Royal Course to one side and the beach to the other.

In addition to being a fine hotel, the Dona Filipa also owns the San Lorenzo golf course, one of the Algarve’s most enjoyable courses and reserved almost exclusively for the use of Dona Filipa residents.

The layout of the hotel is slightly unusual and it takes a little while to find your way around, however the public areas ooze charm and sophistication. One of the major benefits of staying at the Dona Filipa, is that it gives you the opportunity to pre-book and play the San Lorenzo golf course, which is almost exclusively reserved for the sole use of hotel guests and club members.

The hotel’s rooms and facilities are relatively modest by modern day 5 star standards, however the service provided by its experienced and friendly staff is first class. There’s a very pleasant outdoor pool, which is heated throughout the winter, and two excellent restaurants. The beach is literally a three minute walk, as is the ‘Praca’, Vale do Lobo’s social hub where you will find a selection of five restaurants and two bars, ‘Monty’s’ being a particular favourite with golfers.

If you are considering staying at the Dona Filipa, think about upgrading to a superior room. Although the size and layout is the same as the standard rooms they give you a better view, either of the golf course or the sea. We also recommend you consider dining at least once in the hotel during your stay. The Grill Restaurant has an excellent menu, however a real favourite with many guests is the ‘Fishermans Buffet’, served in the Primavera Restaurant normally on a Sunday evening, you can eat almost every variety of fish imaginable including lobster and oysters, and as much of it as you can manage!

AM’s Opinion
Having stayed at the Dona Filipa on many occasions and used it to stage several Pro-Am’s, we can guarantee that you will be well looked after. It’s a real favourite of ours, primarily due to the high service levels, but also because it has a great location and gives you the opportunity to play San Lorenzo which is a superb course.

Location

Vale do Lobo

Dona Filipa is situated 20 km to the west of Faro airport, a driving time of approximately 25 minutes. The hotel is easy to find as it’s located almost on the beach front in the heart of the Vale do Lobo estate.

The closest major towns are:

Almancil = 6.5 km

Vilamoura = 12 km

Loule = 13 km

Albufeira = 40 km

Accommodation

The hotel offers a choice of seven room categories:

Twin or Single Classic
These rooms are generally situated on the lower floors and have views of the gardens, winter gardens or villas. All these rooms have balconies.

Twin or Single Deluxe
These rooms are generally on higher floors and are the same size as the standard ‘Classic’ rooms, however they have views of either the Atlantic Ocean or Vale Lobo golf courses.

Junior Suites
These rooms are considerably larger than the Deluxe Twins and have a lounge area with a sofa bed and two arm chairs. The bathroom and toilet are divided into two rooms. These rooms also have balconies. 

Deluxe Suites
These suites consist of an ample Twin bedroom with a separate lounge, two comfortable dressing rooms and two bathrooms. Some Deluxe Suite balconies have views overlooking the hotel garden, partial Ocean views or view to the magnificent 17th Hole of Vale do Lobo Golf Course.

Atlantic Suites
Spacious and comfortable the Atlantic Suites are open space suites with a leisure and a sleeping area with a king size bed and a bathroom. Atlantic Suites are situated in an exclusive area of the Hotel, with a large balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Ocean Suites
The prime size Ocean Suites consist of a large open space with a sleeping area, furnished with a king size bed and sitting area. Bathrooms are equipped with a corner bathtub and a walk-in raindrop shower.
