The Praia D’El Rey Marriott is a truly wonderful resort with two of the best golf courses in Portugal, Praia D'El Rey and West Cliffs. When you visit Praia D’El Rey you will soon realize why we rate it so highly. The stylish Marriott hotel sits on the beach front providing stunning views of the rugged coast and Atlantic Ocean – make sure you visit the hotel's lobby bar, it’s a great place to enjoy a drink whilst taking in the superb sea views. The Praia D’El Rey course is one of the best in Portugal, indeed it is ranked in the top 100 courses in Continental Europe and we believe West Cliffs, which opened in June 2017, will shortly be ranked even higher! Within ten minutes of the resort are the excellent Royal Obidos and Bom Sucesso courses, which both compare favourably with Praia D'El Rey and West Cliffs, the hotel operates a free transfer service to all four courses. Away from the courses the medieval town of Obidos is a 15 minute drive and is a lovely place to have a relaxing meal and walk the cobbled streets. Lisbon city centre is only an hours drive and makes for a great day out. The hotel has a very pleasant and comfortable layout. The standard rooms are a good size and come with garden views, however, if you want to spoil yourselves, upgrade to an Ocean view room and take advantage of the hotel’s unique beach front location. There's a choice of three restaurants, the Tempera serves buffets of local specialities, the Romy is a family bistro and the poolside restaurant (seasonal opening).
AM’s Opinion This is one of the best golf resorts in Europe with four superb golf courses within easy reach. Indeed we rate West Cliffs as possibly the best course we've ever played and we've played a few! The scenery is fantastic and the hotel has a stunning location. The night-life is a little bit limited, however the food in the hotel is very good and the town of Obidos has a reasonable choice of restaurants. Location
