Situated an hours drive from Faro airport and 90 minutes from Seville, close to the picturesque fishing village of El Rompido in the southern Spanish region of the Costa de la Luz, the 5 star El Rompido resort is surrounded by its two golf courses and the national wetland wildlife reserve.

Opened in 2004 El Rompido has one of the most stunning coastal settings of any golf resort in southern Europe. The hotel is a contemporary design with 184 rooms and 12 suites on three floors, with views of the pool, golf courses or beautiful countryside. There’s an excellent Wellness centre providing Spa treatments, a gym and heated indoor pool.

The resorts two golf courses are very good. The South course has two contrasting nines, one weaves its way around the wetland areas with some challenging holes, the other is on a slightly higher piece of land providing some beautiful views of the coast. The North course has a more consistent layout with wider fairways and tricky greens.

AM’s Opinion

We are big fans of El Rompido. It has a beautiful setting and two lovely golf courses which are great fun to play. In contrast to many Spanish resorts there almost no houses on the courses! It’s a great resort to relax, eat some good food and enjoy your golf.          

Location

El Rompido is situated 104 km to the west of Faro airport, a driving time of approximately 1 hour and 130 km to the south west of Seville airport, a driving time of approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

The closest major towns are:

Cartaya = 9 km
Lepe = 17 km
Islantilla = 23 km
Huelva = 28 km
